Wednesday, September 14
More women need to be visibly active within the Australian film industry and now government screen agencies are helping by taking action. Join Monica Penders (Screen ACT’s Director), Fiona Cameron (Chief Operating Officer at Screen Australia) and Harriet Pike (Head of Production & Development at WildBear Entertainment) for morning tea and a great discussion.
The CSFF opens with an impressive array of films including a Q&A session with local filmmaker Vanessa Gazy. Other local filmmakers having their work screened include Liam Newton, Jim Punnet, Louise Ellery, Philip Meddows, Adam Lynch, Marisa Martin and Gregory McCann.
Thursday, September 15
ReelOzInd! is the first short film festival to bring together Australian and Indonesian filmmakers to share their stories about their county and culture. This is a free event.
Come and enjoy the second night of short entertainment including films from local filmmakers Matthew Koh, Travis Dom, Rachael O’Neil and Adam Lynch.
Friday, September 16
Celebrating 21 years of the CSFF, the night will hold a Q&A with local filmmakers Declan Shrubb and Jim Punnett. See films including those by local filmmakers; Janine Kaiser, Luke Patterson, Jonathon Holden, Elise Dare, Graham Gall, Isack Hoppitt, Evie Friedrich and Travis Dom.
Foxtel’s acclaimed political thriller series Secret City, which was filmed in Canberra, will be screening over two weeks at the ANU Film Group.
Saturday, September 17
Canberra’s one and only pop culture convention. Events include Q&A with ABC’s ‘Good Game’ hosts Bajo and Hex, Della Mortika – Steampunk Animation, the animations of Eric Porter, ‘Me & My Mates’ screening with Q&A, Movie Club Panel and ‘Last Ride Before Sunset’ screening.
The biggest night of the festival includes live music, food and of course films. Local filmmakers include Marisa Martin, Mike Ridley, Isack Hoppitt and Adam Lynch.
Sunday, September 18
Canberra’s one and only pop culture convention. Events include Blue World Order screening with Q&A, Canberra Youtubers Panel, AIE Special Effects and GammaCon Short Film Festival.
Join the filmmakers as they receive their awards and celebrate the last night of the festival. Local filmmakers include; Christian Doran, Bruce Davie, Adam Lynch, Dave Edwardz and Marisa Martin.
Tuesday, September 20th
Come and enjoy some Italian culture with the screening of ‘Perfect Strangers’ followed by the after party to kick off what should be a great festival.
Saturday, September 24th
Written and directed by two documentary filmmakers, Tana is a visual experience to remember and with the film in contention for the Oscars’ Best Foreign Language gong it’s no wonder critics are raving about it. The filmmakers spent several months with the indigenous population of Vanuatu before filming so come along and pick at co-director Martin Butler’s brain.
Sunday, September 25th
Malcolm cleaned up the AFI Awards in 1986 with Best Picture, Director, Actor and Script. Come see the film on the big screen once again and enjoy the opening of the NFSA’s exhibtion: Malcolm 30th Anniversary.
