It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, and with booze, bratty kids and bad decisions, the sequel to Bad Moms is just as “bad” as the first.
A Bad Mom’s Christmas follows Amy (Mila Kunis), Kiki (Kristen Bell) and Carla (Kathryn Hahn) as they struggle through the busiest season of the year in trying to create the perfect Christmas, while dealing with (in some cases) unexpected visits from their own mothers.
Both Kunis and Bell are comedic goddesses, but it’s Hahn who, similarly in the first film, steals the spotlight with her crass, outrageous and aggressive character Carla. Introducing Christine Baranski, Cheryl Hines and Susan Sarandon as their respective mothers, A Bad Mom’s Christmas reminds you to thank God for your own, comparatively sane, family.
While it’s not a Christmas classic, it is just ridiculous good fun – and sometimes that’s all you need. The premise – and the ending – are predictable and the jokes don’t all hit the target, but it’s silly, it’s sentimental and it’s about joy and family … which really, isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
