Blue Shift Short Film Festival
The Blue Shift Sci-fi & Fantasy Film Festival is back in its reinvented form and this time with huge cash prizes. Filmmakers were required to make their films especially for the festival and include a specific line of dialogue. Come along to this free event to see the selected films and meet the creatives at Exhibition Park.

Canberra’s favourite pop culture festival is back again and this time with more games/film content than ever before. A selection of local film events as follows:
Sat 12:30pm: SANGUINETI MEDIA 2018 EXPO
Join producer Daniel Sanguineti and guests as they announce Dan’s slate of exciting projects for the coming year including a major project announcement. Essential for anyone interested in the local film scene, this session will include screenings, giveaways and a special Q&A.
Sat 2pm: ‘THE FURIES’ TRAILER PREMIERE AND PANEL
The Film Distillery will be unveiling for the first time the trailer for their local horror film ‘The Furies’. Join the producers and the director as they reveal their plans for this exciting Canberra made feature.
Sat 3pm: ‘DELLA MORTIKA: STEAMPUNK ADVENTURES’ PREMIERE
Join creator Marisa Martin and her team for the Australian premiere of the steampunk animated short film ‘Della Mortika’ which has been several years in the making. There will be a Q&A following the screening.
Sun 10:30am: FILMMAKER CAFE @ GAMMA.CON
This will be a great opportunity for anyone wanting to meet with Daniel Sanguineti (Sanguineti Media) to discuss, pitch or just ask questions about the local film industry and ideas for screen projects.

The ACT branch of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) will be hosting a Lemac roadshow for those budding and experienced DOPs and anyone curious about the latest gear on the market. A free event but make sure to rsvp.
Friday, August 10
Heath Ledger: A Life In Pictures
Enjoy this free exhibition of the late great actor and filmmaker, Heath Ledger, at the NFSA. As well as showcasing this significant collection, the NFSA will also be hosting screenings of some of Heath’s most accomplished and well known films during the month of August, you can check them out here.
A great opportunity to see this cult hit on the big screen at Palace Electric. All profits will go to the Cancer Council so get behind it peeps!

ABC Drive Presents ‘Back To The Future’
As part of National Science Week at the NFSA, ABC Drive will be hosting a free screening of the classic 80s movie ‘Back To The Future’ along with a Q&A to discuss “sci-fi vs reality” with everyone’s favourite CBR astrophysicist Dr Brad Tucker.
